Alert: U. S. Embassy Dili, Timor-Leste (July 17, 2019)
Location: Road west of the new, southernmost bridge in Dili
Event: The U.S. Embassy received several reports of after-dark incidents along the road west of the southernmost bridge in Dili. There appears to be an increasing number of youth fights in this area, and increasing reports of people throwing stones at passing vehicles.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the road west of the new, southernmost bridge in Dili after dark (between 19:30 – 05:00).
- If you encounter a street brawl while driving, stop and immediately turn around to take an alternate route.
- If you see a large group of rowdy people by the side of the road after dark, particularly if you are driving a scooter or motorcycle, turn around and take an alternate route.
