Interested in Being a U.S. Diplomat? Then Don’t Miss the Foreign Service Officer Test!

The next opportunity to join the Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer (Diplomat) will be in January 2017. The computer-based Foreign Service Officer exam will be offered at the U.S. Embassy in Dili on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

If you decide that the Foreign Service is the right life for you, you must first take the computer-based Service Officer Test (FSOT). Registrations for the FSOT will be accepted from Wednesday, December 15, 2016 through Wednesday, January 25, 2017. If you require special accommodations, the registration must be received by Wednesday, December 28, 2016. In order to register for the FSOT in Dili, please visit http://careers.state.gov/work/foreign-service/officer/test-process. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email on the first business day following submission of your registration from the test administrator (Pearson VUE) that you are eligible to schedule your test seat. Please do not delay in registering and scheduling your test seat! If the test seats are all filled, you will have to take the exam next time it is offered. The test is currently offered three times a year, both within the U.S. and at certain locations overseas.
