Message for U.S. Citizens: New Messaging System

To better serve U.S. citizens living and traveling in Timor-Leste, the U.S. Embassy in Timor-Leste is testing a new system for delivering routine, security, and emergency messages. We would appreciate your assistance in ensuring that the messages are delivered and ask that you please reply to this message by emailing to confirm receipt. We also encourage you to share this message with other U.S. citizens in Timor-Leste.

We strongly recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Timor-Leste enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you do not have Internet access, enroll directly with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
