U.S. Citizen Services

The U.S. Embassy will be providing consular services on an appointment-only basis until further notice.

Consular hours at the U.S. Embassy are 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays.  To make an appointment, please email ConsDili@state.gov and submit an appointment request through the U.S. Embassy website.  Please submit appointment requests in both places at least 24 hours in advance, when possible.  The Embassy will confirm your appointment prior to your arrival and provide additional guidance, if necessary.  Please do not come to the Embassy if you have not received confirmation of your appointment unless it is an emergency.

The U.S. Embassy currently has limited ability to offer routine passport and citizenship services.  Applicants may submit passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) applications, but documents will not arrive in Timor-Leste until mail services resume.  Please consider waiting to apply until we resume normal operations.  In an emergency, we can assist with an emergency passport for an adult or minor.

The Consular Section will continue providing notarial services, including certified copies of passports, for a fee of $50 per document, as well as emergency assistance to U.S. citizens, as necessary.

We encourage you to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive the latest updates for Timor-Leste as well as the days and hours of American Citizen Services.

For emergencies, please contact the U.S. Embassy at (670) 332-4684 extension 2026 or (670) 7723-1328 outside of working hours.
