Dili – On Saturday, January 21st, the U.S. Mission in Timor-Leste hosted its annual Expo 2017 entitled “Amérika ho Timor-Leste Hamutuk Dezenvolve Futuru” at Timor Plaza in Dili.
The expo aimed to showcase the U.S. commitment to the development of Timor-Leste and strengthen the bonds between the American and Timorese people.
The expo featured 18 booths which highlighted individual development projects, including the work of the U.S. Navy Seabees and the Peace Corps in the country, as well as booths representing our newly-opened consular section, the UmaAmerika cultural and information center, and the EducationUSA office (devoted to promoting study in the USA and our exchange programs).
In addition to providing information at each of the booths, a number of the projects hosted activities on the stage and the center courtyard. Thousands of Timorese came out to see the expo, partake in the activities and dance to the tune of American music.
