On September 17th, the US Government handed-over 65 radios, one per sub-district, to the PNTL Department of Community Policing. The radios were procured as part of a $11.3 million program that the US has implemented in Timor since 2012 to support the PNTL in various areas. We have been excited to assist in building the capacity of the PNTL, and are particularly proud of the success the community police have had. This donation will allow them to increase responsiveness to community needs in all sub-districts, and is an example of the impact the PNTL logistics department can make in ensuring proper asset management.
